Coney Island

Lucy March 2015 1For those of you who have been following my blog for a while, you might remember my friend Lucy. I did a shoot with her when I first started dabbling in street style photography and recently caught up with her. She’s now out of school and working in the music industry and, I’m sure, one of the best-dressed in her office. I love how she paired her warm wool socks with these cut-out booties and topped off the look with this gorgeous color blocked jacket for a chilly spring day.

I met Frédérique last summer while studying at Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design in London and, although she now lives in Montreal, we recently teamed up to do a shoot at Coney Island. I snapped this behind-the-scenes pic of her while we were planning a shot on a gloomy April afternoon. I can’t release any details or photos of the shoot just yet, but keep an eye out for more photos from the shoot coming soon.

An Elegant Man

DSC_0952When you think of modern menswear and what you typically see millennials wearing on the street, “elegant” isn’t exactly the first word that comes to mind. However, Akief Sheriff is one man who is out to change that reputation. He is currently gearing up to launch the blog Elegant Men Style, which focuses on street style and styling tips for men. Akief is a strong believer in mixing and matching and, with experience working in the suiting department at Saks 5th Avenue, he knows a thing or two about styling, tailoring and what to invest in to get the most out of your wardrobe.
DSC_0954Look out for his website, www.elegantmenstyle.com, coming soon and make sure to follow @elegantmenstyle and @akiefsheriff on Instagram for modern suiting, styling and menswear inspiration for the modern man.

Ooh, New York!

Last week I had the opportunity to shoot the stunning Alexa Reynen for the Argentinian brand, Miux Shoes. I met the brand’s designer, Carol, during Fashion Week while editing photos at Starbucks following the Michael Kors show. We were both trying to warm up from the cold following the show and she happened to see some of my photos and…well, the rest is history. We met up again on Monday and braved the freezing temps and trudged out to Weehawken for the afternoon, but it was all worth it when we saw what Carol and her friends kept referring to as, “such a view!”

DSC_0620Alexa, our model, was such a trooper throughout the whole process. The California girl rocked the brand’s kick-ass line of platforms, in the snow and ice no less, and with a smile on her face. This experience made me appreciate New York, not just for it’s fashion, but for how it brings people from all over the world and all walks of life together. Cue “New York” by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z…

Shopping: Brooklyn Flea Philly

I’ve been a fan of the Brooklyn Flea for years, making the trek to Brooklyn to scour the rows of vendors to find the best antique, vintage and handmade items the Flea has to offer. However, as a Philadelphia resident, the four hour roundtrip commute to New York can be overwhelming, which is why I was overjoyed when I saw an announcement on the Brooklyn Flea webpage that they would be bringing the Brooklyn Flea to Philly this June. Here’s a visual diary of my first trip to the Brooklyn Flea Philly at the Piazza on opening day.
